Transatlantic SLAVE TRADE

MERCANTILISM According to the economic theory of Mercantilism, a nation becomes powerful by increasing its trade. Colonization was strictly a way to make money for the “mother” country Trade was a way to make money through imports and exports Imports = goods brought into the country Exports = goods sent to markets outside of the country You want more exports than imports

NAVIGATION ACTS Series of laws passed by England to regulate trade between the mother country and her colonies—known as The Navigation Acts. Colonial merchants wanted to regulate their own trade and develop their own trade routes

TRIANGULAR TRADE Triangular trade route was the most famous route set up by colonial merchants
