When was the Medieval period? The Medieval period was also known as the Middle Ages It started in 500 AD and ended in 1500 AD It lasted for 1000 years!

Swords Swords were one of the most common weapons used in the Middle Ages Swords have 2 main parts, the Blade and the Hilt The Hilt is made up of the Grip and the Crossguard There were swords that you could hold with one hand but some were so big you needed 2 hands

Shields Shields were usually used with a sword They were used for protection from the enemies weapon They were made from wood or metal or both

Morning Star & Mace Morning Star A spiky metal ball attached to a handle by a chain It was heavy because of the spiky ball They swung it around and whacked the enemy! Mace It was like a Morning Star but did not have the chain
