Knives (seaman’s), Swords (cutlasses)

4 Safety rules for handling weapons (Rifle).
Whenever you pick up a weapon or have a weapon handed to you _ _ _ _ _ _ carry out the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _, whether it is your own or someone else’s, _ _ _ _ _ _ examine it to ensure that it is _ _ _ loaded. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ a weapon at anyone – even in fun. ALWAYS handle a weapon so that it points in a _ _ _ _ direction, so that there is no danger if a round is accidentally fired.

5 NEVER rest the _ _ _ _ _ _ of a weapon against your body, Similarly do not hold a weapon with your hand or hands placed over the muzzle. When handing over a weapon to someone else, SHOW / PROVE to them first that is it in a _ _ _ _ and an _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ STATE. Weapons will NEVER be carried in VEHICLES either _ _ _ _ _ _ or in a ‘made safe’ state.

6 IT IS BETTER TO BE _ _ _ _ , THAN SORRY !
When anyone hands a weapon to you NO MATTER WHO THEY ARE – INSIST THAT THEY _ _ _ _ / PROVE IT TO YOU. YOU will NOT fire any weapon until such time as you have been fully _ _ _ _ _ _ _ , Exercised and tested to be capable of safely handling the weapon. IT IS BETTER TO BE _ _ _ _ , THAN SORRY !

7 Safety rules for handling bayonets, Knives or Sword (cutlass)
Always carry the blade in a scabbard (sheathed) or bayonet correctly attached to the muzzle of a weapon. Never run with a bayonet, knife or sword Always carry a weapon correctly with the bayonet pointing upright. Always handle the bayonet by the bayonet standard and not the blade.

8 To carry a bayonet, knife or sword safely
Hold by the handle, with the blade pointing down to the ground. If possible always carry in a scabbard.
