“Giving up Control”

What does “taking up the cross of Christ mean to us all?

“Remember that you are the beloved child of God “Remember that you are the beloved child of God. God will be there when you make your long jump. Don’t try to grab; God will catch you. Just stretch out your arms and hands and trust, trust, trust.” Henri Nouwen, Our Greatest Gift, 1994.

If these temptations were placed before Jesus, surely they are right before us everyday.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37

What if we give up our own way… our own perceived control – and take up the cross?
