Supplies A composition book journal to keep in their binders NOT in the classroom An agenda and an AVID binder Writing utensils (pencils and pens) District email and login information will be provided as well

About Me I am married with three sons (10, 12, and 19) I was born and raised in small town Oklahoma, but I have lived in Houston area for 24 years. It’s also my 24th year of teaching with nine years in elementary and 15 years in middle school. It’s my 12th year in Humble ISD.

Classwork/Homework/Independent Reading Collaborative groups (discussion and projects) Homework is often work not completed in class Projects can be done independently or in groups Independent Reading Required to read at least one novel of choice each month Read every day in class Students will be given a bag to carry their book to and from school each day. This way you are aware of what your child is reading.

Summer Reading Summer Reading book should be read by September 17th. There is no project assignment this year!! Students will participate in an online discussion with other classmates that have read the same book. Please check my website or the school library website for book titles.

Assignments (daily work, tests, quizzes, compositions, projects) *An assignment is due on specific due dates, and late work will be penalized *Tests (Summatives) count as 60% of the student’s grade *Daily (Formatives) work counts as 40% of the student’s grade Absences: Student’s responsibility to check folder, classmates and teacher for make-up work. Equal days absent to make up work

Panther-Prep Tutoring Wednesday from 4:05 to 5:00 a 6th grade RELA teacher is available M-Th. a TRF required before attending one will be provided if needed.

6th/7th You are scheduled to return to my class for the second half of the block during 6th and 7th. No new information will be given, but feel free to return for questions. Don’t forget to fill out the information on the sign-in sheet.
