Buccaneers SAIL Safe Accountable In Control Lead by Example

Welcome back, we are glad to see you! Happy New Year! Welcome back, we are glad to see you!

Kind acts It might be hard to remember kind acts that happened before break. So please take a few moments to talk about what kindnesses you can offer others in 2019. What type of person do you plan to be?

B-UMS Student expectations Our first semester had its high and low points. But we all have room to improve. The following slides have some guidelines for having a successful second semester at B-UMS. Teachers, please share your own insights for each topic! B-UMS Student expectations

ATTENDANCE/ Tardies/Early outs Get to school on time, don’t mess around in the hall and stay until dismissal! If you (arrive late or leave early) miss 10 minutes of a class twice weekly, you miss: 100 minutes of class per week! Almost 7 hours of class in one month! That is over 15 class periods per month! No wonder your grades might be suffering!

Social media If you are a mature social media user, you will be less likely to bring social media stress to school. THINK BEFORE YOU POST. DO NOT post pics or videos of others without their permission (drama and fights). If someone insults you or hurts your feelings, get adult help and rethink your friendships.

Lunch/Recess Did you know that many students just want to socialize and have fun at lunch and recess? If you choose to avoid the drama, arguing and name calling, you can have a relaxing and fun time with your friends. We need your input, what do you think we need to do as a school to improve behavior at lunch and recess? (please send your response to the counselors)

Work ethic (teachers, please share your views on this subject) Do your schoolwork! If you choose to slack on your middle school academics, you are not going to enter High School with the study habits you need to be successful. Do your work NOW – Learn a healthy work ethic! Work ethic (teachers, please share your views on this subject) Imagine you are in 9th grade. You earned an F for the first semester in 9th Grade English. What happens next? At the beginning of 10th grade, when your friends take 10th grade English, you retake 9th grade English (WITH 9TH GRADERS WHO WILL KNOW YOU FAILED). Once you pass that class, you will take 10th grade English (while your friends take 11th grade English).

Have a great semester, or not, the choice is yours. Welcome back Mrs. Warner, we sure missed you!
