But she's no preteen trying to sign up before the network's minimum age of 13. Now 113 and reportedly Minnesota's oldest resident, Stoehr is a lifelong fan of learning new things. With the help of a friend, she went to sign up for Facebook this month. When Stoehr found the earliest birth year Facebook's sign-up page provides is 1905, she claimed to be a spry 99 years old. Stoehr, who lives in a retirement community and was born before her family had a telephone, car or electricity, has gotten more plugged in since striking up a friendship with a Verizon salesman. Joseph Ramireza was selling an iPhone to Stoehr's 85-year-old son, who started talking about his mother. Ramireza said he had to meet her. He's helped her use FaceTime to video chat with friends on an iPad and has been teaching her to use email and Google search. According to her Facebook page, Stoehr now has 31 friends on the site and has activated Facebook Mobile. She turned 114 on Wednesday and celebrated with a party at her retirement community.

In Other News A pet parrot that spoke with a British accent when it disappeared from its home four years ago has been reunited with its owner — and the bird now speaks Spanish. The reunion was brought about by a Southern California veterinarian who mistook Nigel, an African gray parrot, for her own missing bird. Teresa Micco tracked Nigel's microchip to Darren Chick, a Brit who lives in Torrance. "I introduced myself and said, 'Have you lost a bird?'" Micco told the newspaper. He said his bird went missing four years earlier. Little is known about Nigel's whereabouts the past four years, but Chick says the bird's British accent is gone, and it now chatters in Spanish. Chick says last week's reunion brought tears of joy to his eyes — despite the fact that Nigel bit him when he first tried to pick him up. An airline is complaining that passengers are getting lost and missing their flights because of a lack of road signs helping them find an out-of-the way Hawaii airport. Mokulele Airlines is the first commercial airline to offer service out of a west Oahu airport that's at a former naval air station. On July 1, the airline began offering three roundtrip flights a day to Kahului, Maui, out of the Kalaeloa Airport. "We've had a lot of no-shows because people miss the flight because they can't find the airport," said CEO Ron Hansen. There's no airport sign on the freeway, and the road to the airport has a series of merges and turns through some unpopulated areas. The transportation department is working with the city and county and other state agencies to post signs along the highways.
