Bringing in the Light of Christ Musical Prelude Bringing in the Light of Christ

Come, Join the Dance of Trinity Introit Come, Join the Dance of Trinity Choir

*Call to Worship One: Come into our midst Almighty God, God of Creation and Power! Many: Come into our midst Jesus, Savior and God of Salvation! All: Come into our midst, Holy Spirit, God of Wind and Flame, Comforter and Guide!

O Worship the King (Verse 1) *O Worship the King WORDS: Robert Grant, 1833 (Ps. 104) 73 1. O worship the King, all glorious above, O gratefully sing God’s power and God’s love;

our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days, pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.

O Worship the King (Verse 2) 2. O tell of God’s might, O sing of God’s grace, whose robe is the light, whose canopy space,

whose chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form, and dark is God’s path on the wings of the storm.

O Worship the King (Verse 3) 3. The earth with its store of wonders untold, Almighty, thy power hath founded of old;

hath stablished it fast by a changeless decree, and round it hath cast, like a mantle, the sea.

O Worship the King (Verse 4) 4. Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;

it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain, and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

O Worship the King (Verse 5) 5. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, in thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail;

thy mercies, how tender, how firm to the end, our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend.

Taylor Burton-Edwards *Opening Prayer Taylor Burton-Edwards Almighty God, the people on the earth are shaking every day. Jesus, the children on earth are quaking from shootings and starvation, war and E-bola, unrest and injustice. Holy Spirit, the waters above the earth, and on the earth, and beneath the earth are churning: volcanos erupt, lava flows,and floods come. Many must move or face destruction.

Father, Son and Holy Spirit, pour out refreshing waters on the dry places, Feed your people, all people, through the floods -- not of water, but floods of kindness. Let kindness roll, an ever-flowing stream. Turn the shaking of the earth, Great Maker, the quaking of your body, Jesus, the rousing of your people, Spirit, into the dance of love in which you live, in which all life resides, from which it flows, and to which it returns: in you, One and Holy, now and ever. Amen.

Joys and Concerns Pastoral Prayer

Hymnal #895 Used By Permission. CCLI License # 11148194

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Scripture Reading Acts 16:11-15 11 We set sail from Troas and took a straight course to Samothrace, the following day to Neapolis, 12 and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. We remained in this city for some days. 13 On the sabbath day we went outside the gate by the river, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down and spoke to the women who had gathered there.

14 A certain woman named Lydia, a worshiper of God, was listening to us; she was from the city of Thyatira and a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul. 15 When she and her household were baptized, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come and stay at my home.” And she prevailed upon us.

The Message Seeking 101: Led by Lydia

The Gift of Love (Verse 1) 408 WORDS: Hal Hopson, 1972 (1 Cor. 13:1-3) 1. Though I may speak with bravest fire, and have the gift to all inspire, © 1972 Hope Publishing Co.

and have not love, my words are vain, as sounding brass, and hopeless gain.

The Gift of Love (Verse 2) 2. Though I may give all I possess, and striving so my love profess,

but not be given by love within, the profit soon turns strangely thin.

The Gift of Love (Verse 3) 3. Come, Spirit, come, our hearts control, our spirits long to be made whole.

Let inward love guide every deed; by this we worship, and are freed.

*Blessing Please join us for food and fellowship in the Hospitality Room following the service.
