Nehemiah 1:3-4
They said to Nehemiah, “Those who survived exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.” When I [Nehemiah] heard these things I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.

O LORD, God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps a covenant of love with those who love and obey God’s commands, let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night. I confess the sins we have committed against You. You promised to scatter us if we were unfaithful but if we returned to You and obeyed Your commandments You said You would gather us in and bring us to a place You had chosen.

8. We give thanks for the way You sent Jesus the Christ to gather us in when we were lost. Praise God who is loving and grace-filled! Alleluia. Amen.
