Welcome to SC Works Greater Upstate The following presentation is a summary of Agencies, Partners and their programs available at our Center. We have ADA accessible equipment. The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW), is responsible for paying unemployment insurance benefits, collecting unemployment taxes, helping people find jobs, matching businesses with qualified candidates, and collecting and disseminating state/federal employment statistics. DEW in partnership with SC Works provides all job seekers with career counseling, job referrals, testing and training services, and resume-writing assistance. At our Center, you can also: File for Unemployment; Seek Veterans Services; and obtain Migrant and Seasonal Farm Workers (MSFW) information. DEW staff is always in our Center to help you with your needs.

GED Preparation and Employment Training The ACHIEVE Program is administered by USC Upstate. ACHIEVE is an educational and employment program, serving school dropouts (ages 16-24) from Cherokee, Spartanburg and Union Counties. Eligibility Requirements: 16 to 24 years of age School dropout – OR- those with a high school diploma/GED who are unemployed/underemployed and not attending college. Live in Cherokee, Spartanburg, and Union Counties. Meet certain economic guidelines established by US DOL. Transportation to and from classes provided!

South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department Prepares and assists eligible South Carolinians with disabilities to achieve and maintain competitive employment. If you have a disability, we can help you understand the options available in becoming or staying employed. Individualized services are provided and may include: Assessment for eligibility.
