Motivation - Why Did I Become A Compassion Volunteer? I’m Gabriel, I work in the pharmaceutical industry & I’ve been a volunteer for under 2 years. Reading the bible as a boy, amazed by all the sacrifices. Impressed by the sacrifice of Able, being accepted by God. Moved by the offering of Enoch. I wanted to do something to please God also!!!!

What is Compassion in Jesus’ Name An international charity with a presence in Central & South America, Africa, and Asia. Our Mandate is to end child poverty in 20 years. We are Christian charity, serving Jesus, partnering with local churches & pastors. Our directive is to feed both body and spirit, make salvation available. We work strategically in 3 ways Child Survival Sponsorship Respond

Poverty – Saddens the Heart – Some Statistics Hunger – Every day almost 8500 children die from hunger. 5 children every minute. Thirsty - ~ 360,000 children under 5 die a year due to unclean water. Education & child labour – 121 million children aged 6-18 are out of school. Our plea/request – 83p a day – provides healthcare, education, food, clothing, social and emotional care.

Poverty – Saddens the Heart – Some Statistics Compassion has over 60 years experience in Christian child development. More than 1.7 million children are attending compassion projects. Importantly 127,000 children, put their life and faith in Jesus through Compassion. Partner with nearly 7000 churches in 26 developing countries. Our Pledge > 80% of your giving will go to your child.

What does a Sponsored Child Have to Say Julian Alum: Formally a sponsored child who grew to adulthood in the programme. Stressed (emotional support), receiving the letters, having some think about him. Care about him. Show compassion and love towards him, was just as if not more important than financial support.

The Good Samaritan A thought provoking parable from Jesus that teaches charity and pleasing God comes from the heart not birth right or religious or social standing. A Samaritan – The lowest of the low A Levite And a Levite priest – the 12th tride reserved and dedicated to God. Yet God favours the works of the lowly. The lowly one pleased him. Good deeds come from the Heart!
