English B50 MLA formatting

Citations In addition to providing in-text citations for the source material you include in your essays, you’ll also need to include a works cited page at the end. The works cited page contains all of the additional publication information about your sources so that your reader could find those sources if he or she so chose.

Works Cited Page The Works Cited page is the last page of your essay. Your last name and the page number should still be in the upper right hand corner. If your last page of writing is 5, then your header will have 6 as the page number. The title, Works Cited, should be centered at the top of the page.

Works Cited Entries You will need to include a works cited entry for every source that you cite within the body of your paper. Your entries for the articles in the book will be treated as more than one work from the same anthology. You should have at least five entries from our text, then: one for each article, and one for the book itself.

Entries Continued The entries for the articles should follow this format: Authors last name, first name. “Title of the Article.” Editors’ last names start page-end page. For example, the entry for Barbara Ehrenreich’s article “Positive Psychology: The Science of Happiness” would look like this: Ehrenreich, Barbara. “Positive Psychology: The Science of Happiness.” Evans 374-85. Make sure you follow proper double spacing and indenting.

Entries Continued Now, using your Hacker Writer’s Reference guide, take a few minutes to create the other entries for the articles from Real Questions that you’ll be using in your paper. I’ll come around to help as needed.

Entries Continued You’ll also need to include the entry for the book itself. It should follow this format: Editor’s last name, Editor’s first name, ed. Title of the Book. City of publication: Publisher. Year of publication. Print. Now take a moment to create this entry on your works cited page.

Outside Source Your outside source should be a journal article. Thus, you’ll need to cite it like this: Author’s last name, first name. “Article Title.” Journal Title volume.issue (date): start page-end page. Database name. Web. Date of access.

Works Cited Page Finally, make sure your works cited page is complete and correct. Keep in mind that your entries should be in alphabetical order.
