Presentation transcript:

Trifles (while reading) The play opens with the investigation of a crime. Keep track of any clues that you feel might be important later. Keep track of gender roles in 1916

Trifles (clarification) What happened in the relationship between Mr. and Mrs. Wright? Why did she kill him? Motive? Was Mrs. Wright abused? Why was finding a motive so critical for the men? At what point did Mrs. Peters change her mind?

Trifles (for discussion) Were the women right to cover up the crime? Roles, attitudes, and assumptions about men and women in the play? What has changed? What is the same?

Trifles (Analysis) SOAPS (and Title) (Short story “Jury of Her Peers”) In what way would such a play be effective?

Trifles Why is it that only 17% of boys said that the women did the right thing? Is there a difference in the way men and women view matters such as these?
