4. “A Jury of Her Peers” presents a clearly unified group of women who protect Mrs. Wright after she murders her husband, while Trifles makes this more ambiguous. The later short story highlights the complicated gender relations at work in the small town. Both “A Jury of Her Peers” and Trifles use bird imagery to align Mrs. Wright to the trapped and ultimately killed bird that spurs her murder of her husband and show the deadly nature of psychological abuse.
