The Collapse of the Roman Empire: In the 3rd century the empire started to lose its power. It all began with the fact that since the empire was so large it was divided into 2 parts: East and West. In the east the ruling city was Constantinople. After the division the Huns (a group of invaders from central Asia) began invading the western side of the empire. The invaders burned down homes and conquered the Romans land.

Reasons for the Romans loss of Power: Many of the emperors were corrupt and bad leaders As the rule continued the empire began to rely on paid (bad) soldiers who were non-roman and less loyal to the empire. Money problems: the empire was so large that to defend it they needed to heavily tax the people to pay for protection, this led to unhappy people. Also, it led to inflation and unemployment Invasions: the Western Empire was being invaded from all directions. The Romans called them barbarians, but eventually Rome was weakened and it fell to the invading tribes. The Eastern Empire was able to survive and later becomes known as the Byzantine Empire.
