Eyes that see not… Ears that hear not I am the Light of the World (John 8:12-20; John 9:1-7; John 11:7-10)

Men love human philosophies which they regard as light. Doctrines are proclaimed and approved by men which are but fables of human devising. To such fire-raisers God says: Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow (Isa. 50:11). The sparks quickly die out, and men sink into darkness, lying down at last in sorrow for an eternal sleep. Both these followers and rejecters of the Divine light have a similar place in the teaching of Jesus: I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness; and if any man hear my words and believe not, I judge him not...the word that I have spoken shall judge him in the last day (John 12:46-48).
