Its important to understand the sequence of events. Its important to be able to relate between different books. Otherwise… it can be confusing!!

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3:16. “for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” 2 Peter 1:21.

BOOKS OF MOSES: -Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy -Also called the Torah or the Law. -The acts and the teachings of the Old Testament church. -Talks about man’s life (the creation, the fall and journeying to the Promised Land).

HISTORICAL BOOKS: -Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 st and 2 nd Samuel, 1 st and 2 nd Kings, 1 st and 2 nd Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther -The history of God’s work with his people in the new land.

THE POETIC BOOKS AND WISDOM BOOKS: -Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs and Lamentation. -Explain the faith and how to live it.

PROPHETIC BOOKS: a- Major Prophets: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel b- Minor Prophets: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi These books contain prophesies about the coming Christ.

The Four Gospels: -Matthew, Mark, Luke, John -Life and teachings of Jesus Christ. -The New Testament Law. -The acts and the teachings of the New Testament church.

THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES: -Written by St. Luke -The history of God’s work in the church through the Holy Spirit

THE EPISTLES: The Pauline Epistles – Romans, 1 st and 2 nd Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesus, Philippi, Colossians, 1 st and 2 nd Thessalonians, 1 st and 2 nd Timothy, Titus, Philemon and Hebrews. The Catholic Epistles: James, 1 st and 2 nd Peter, 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd John and Jude. These books are meant to explain the Divinity of Christ and the details of our faith

THE BOOK OF REVELATION: -the last book written in the Bible -written by St. John the Beloved - Contains Prophecies about the second coming of Christ and the end of days.
