Title I Agenda and Topics for August 2016 What is Title I? Funding Activities Parents’ Rights Under Title I Parent-School Compact Parent Involvement/Engagement Evaluations Contact Person

Title I and Pottsville Schools Title I… is a program designed to help improve the academic achievement of disadvantaged students.

Title I—Funds and activities Our Title I funds enable us to have such things as: A Reading Recovery program at Elementary Highly Qualified Paraprofessionals and/ or Reading Specialists to support instruction Parental Engagement activities After School tutoring at Middle Grades

Title I—Parents’ Rights Under Title I, parents have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers who instruct your child. (See the “beginning of the year packet” for additional information.)

Title I- Parents’ Right to Know Our Annual Report Card (on ADE website--shows how we compare to other districts) Individual Student Assessment Report (students and parents will receive test results that will indicate a student’s proficiency level on a state assessment) Disabled Parents (right to ask for any auxiliary aid to help with parent-school communication) Written State Complaint Procedures (about curriculum-on ADE website)

Title I Parent-School Compact The parent-school compact outlines how parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards. (See the “beginning of the year packet” for further information.)

Title I-Parent Evaluations Our goal is to ensure that all children have a fair and equal opportunity to obtain a high-quality education. Surveys will be available throughout the year (like at parent-teacher conferences) for you to complete to provide us with additional ideas on how to help our students be more successful. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!
