Working in Partnership This government is committed to empowering regions across the UK by giving them a stronger influence over the future of transport in their area. Secretary of State for Transport, May 2018 Evidence base for the Heartland - giving the basis for developing our understanding and ensuring that we are focusing on the right issues  Accessible to all partners – allowing common understanding and goals.  Resolving challenges and driving opportunity – only achievable through partnership  Investment in infrastructure, including enhanced east-west transport links, can help to address these challenges, but it must be properly aligned with a strategy for new homes and communities, not developed in isolation. Project - Freight The logistics sector will be a key priority for some emerging Local Industrial Strategies in the Heartland. Our ambitious approach to freight means we are ensuring that transport solutions are genuinely unlocking economic growth, now – and in the future. We will work with: Our freight sector – domiciled in the Heartland The significant amount of passing freight companies – given our strategic position in the country Delivery Partners Innovators – including the Transport Systems Catapult EEH is reviewing how we can holistically plan for the most efficient ways of providing access to goods that; unlock economic potential; protect the environment; and future-proof the network for the benefit of everyone. www.englandseconomicheartland.com

Project - Partnership with Bus Operators A joint association between bus operators across the Oxford-Milton Keynes-Cambridge corridor and surrounding areas. The Partnership will ensure: a strong voice for bus operators on the planning and delivery of strategic infrastructure bus operators leading: better integration of public transport, improving the first and last mile of customer journeys, and enhancing the user experience Option for train operators to consider an equivalent association? “We want to play a leading role working in partnership to support economic growth across the Heartland. We want to be at the forefront of improving the user experience, increasing use of public transport and improving journey times.“ Robin Knight, Stagecoach (and member of the Strategic Transport Forum) www.englandseconomicheartland.com
