What is a climograph & how do you read it? A graph that shows the climate of an ecosystem or biome. The graph has both temperature and precipitation (rainfall). The temperature is usually represented by a line graph. The precipitation is usually indicated by a bar graph. When identifying a biome or ecosystem, consider both the temperature and the precipitation.

Desert What is the temperature range? What is the precipitation range? Latitude: near the equator, 0 What is the temperature range? What is the precipitation range? Somalia, Africa

Savanna What is the temperature range? Latitude: near the equator, 0 What is the temperature range? What is the precipitation range?

Tropical Rainforest What is the temperature range? Latitude: near the equator, 0 What is the temperature range? What is the precipitation range?

Prairie What is the temperature range? Latitude: between 30 & 50 north OR south What is the temperature range? What is the precipitation range?

Temperate Rainforest What is the temperature range? Latitude: between 30 & 50 north OR south What is the temperature range? What is the precipitation range?

Temperate Deciduous Forest Latitude: between 30 & 50 north OR south What is the temperature range? What is the precipitation range?

Taiga (Boreal, Evergreen, Coniferous Forest) Latitude: Between 50 & 70 north OR south What is the temperature range? What is the precipitation range?

Tundra What is the temperature range? What is the precipitation range? Latitude: above or below 70, the Arctic Circle and the Antarctic What is the temperature range? What is the precipitation range?

How does elevation affect climate? The higher the elevation, the colder and drier the climate. Mountaintops may have tundra - called alpine tundra. Mountaintops may be very bare – called high desert.
