Positive vs. Negative Space Positive space- space in an artwork that is filled with something. Negative Space- empty space in an artwork; a void

Positive and Negative Space Project: Materials: 9”x12” white paper, watercolor, scrap paper, scissors 4 Thumbnail sketches of trees Composition may be original or from life reference. Must use a minimal of 2 watercolor techniques. Amounts of negative space and positive space are balanced. Must have a foreground, background, and middle ground Intriguing composition, showing intense relationship between positive and negative shapes. (Entire 9x12 plane is used) Highly crafted. *Hint: overlapping and size shows different ‘grounds’, crop to make image more interesting.
