David Hockney By: Marianna Brandt

Biography He was born on July 9, 1937, in Bradford, England. To parents, Kenneth and Laura Hockney. In his youth, he was influenced by artists such as Picasso. His parents were always encouraging him from an early age. He studied art in the Bradford College of Art from 1953 to 1957. He is considered to be one of the most influential British artists of the 20th Century.

Characteristics He usually uses a canvas for his artwork. Enjoys using a brush. His typical art style is Modern Art. His preferred subject matter is usually landscapes of places he has travelled to or places he has visited. He uses oils, watercolours and acrylics for his paintings.  Used to be a photographer. Uses vibrant colours for all his art pieces.
