MATH: We will finish Unit 2 this week and move into Unit 3 MATH: We will finish Unit 2 this week and move into Unit 3. This week, we will learn a couple of new math stations. These stations will focus on single-digit number facts. We will use fact families, and doubles (3+3) to practice these facts. Students will be introduced to even and odd numbers. Even and odd numbers are sometimes confusing to students. This would be a great thing to practice at home. At home, you can practice addition facts, get on Xtra Math, and check out the resources in the bridges links on my website. I will begin to grade the Phonics and High-Frequency Words (HFWs) tests. Below are two guides for the Phonics (HFWs) tests. The tests are graded separately and entered as two scores in our gradebook. I will not always explain why your child missed a point on these tests. Guide for Phonics Test Each word is worth one point. The words tested are based on the sound or word family for the week. You can look at the weekly information sheet to know what words or patterns to study. Any word that includes that letter sound is fair game. Guide for HFW Dictation Sentences Test I will read two sentences to the students. They will write the sentence down. Listed below are the five things I will look for in each sentence. The total number of points will vary with each test. Capital letter at the beginning of the sentence Correct punctuation at the end of the sentence Correct spelling of the HFW(s) and phonics words
