The key to comfort and efficiency for heating and air-conditioning Exquisite Heat The key to comfort and efficiency for heating and air-conditioning

15% fuel savings/4yr payback/$1000 January 13, 2019

1/13/2019 A word about savings. Every building has a different relationship with its cooling plant. Some waste a lot. Most waste a lot. Most have comfort problems. Savings on electricity can range from 5-30% Exquisite Heat will run it more comfortably and efficiently for sure. January 13, 2019

Efficiency Reduced standby loss. Increased exchange circulation Greater circulation reduces air stratification Cooler rather than cold air on moderate days Reduced ducting temperature change Less generation to satisfy comfort needs. Reduced frost. January 13, 2019

January 13, 2019

How?? Precise BTU extraction for BTU gain. January 13, 2019

Exquisite Heat Adjusts cooling supply temperature in response to Thermostat demand history. January 13, 2019

Even BTU distribution Moderated temperatures allow for more evenly delivered temperature to the space at longer cycles of circulation. January 13, 2019

Temperature vs. Thermostat The higher the air delivery temperature the longer it will take the thermostat to sense the change. January 13, 2019

January 13, 2019

Simple Attachment Two wire Thermostat parallel connection input. Attach thermistor to supply output. Connect low voltage control relay in series. Attach 24 Vlt Power from existing source. Program system variables. Revisit until satisfied with installation settings. January 13, 2019

January 13, 2019

What happened? A changed philosophy of HVAC control. The new goal is to satisfy an Ideal Thermostat Demand ratio. As Actual Thermostat Demand changes in relation to Ideal Thermostat Demand, the source output is adjusted every hour. January 13, 2019

Increased circulation delivers even comfort. Assumption 1 Increased circulation delivers even comfort. January 13, 2019

Assumption 2. The closer the cooling plant temperature is to the room temperature requirement, the more fuel efficient the system. January 13, 2019

Thermostat The thermostat takes all heat loss and heat gain into consideration. The customer can adjust thermostat for personal comfort. Thermostat activity can be used to adjust boiler, HVAC output to satisfy the space with ideal circulation. The thermostat and energy source interact intelligently for comfort and efficiency. January 13, 2019

IDEAL THERMOSTAT DEMAND RATIO For Exquisite Heat the constant is IDEAL THERMOSTAT DEMAND RATIO

Ideal Demand Ratio A preset thermostat On ratio = 70% The circulation rate at which the heat/cooling source is providing the precise BTU supply for satisfaction and comfort distribution. Thermostat On = Circulation On

Constant Ideal Thermostat Demand Ratio gives us a constant for comparison and adjustment. January 13, 2019

Actual Thermostat Demand Ratio The actual proportion of time a thermostat “calls” for comfortable temperature in a given period of time. (60 minutes) ADR January 13, 2019

Actual Demand Ratio Control takes thermostat on/off status reading every second. 60 samples/minute x 60minutes = 3600 samples per hour. If thermostat is on for 2520 times/3600 samples, the actual demand ratio = 2520/3600 = .70 = 70% January 13, 2019

What information do we need? Previous hour adjusted cooling plant cycle on time: 40 minutes = Actual Demand Ratio. Period of analysis = 60 minutes (5-90 min) January 13, 2019

Temperature change factor + Ideal demand ratio = .70 Actual demand ratio = .75 ((ADR-IDR) x10) = TCF ratio difference =.75 - .70 = +.05 Time Change Factor + .05 x 10= +.5 Cycle time = +.5

Temperature Change Increment Temp change increment is an arbitrary factor we use to determine the degree of response we want to make in the adjustment with the temperature change factor. 1 Minute x .5 = +.5 Minute 2 Minute x .5 = +1 Minute 3 Minute x .5 = +1.5 Minutes January 13, 2019

New High Limit Temp calculation Current Cycle Time= 40 Min ((.75 - .70) x 10)= +.5 x 3 Min = +1.5 Min 40 Min+ 1.5Min = 41.5 Min New Cycle Time (Higher) January 13, 2019

Cycle Time Settings 40 Min + 1.5 Min = New ON Time (Higher) = 41.5 Min Cycle rest time of 10 Min January 13, 2019

Time change factor Ideal demand ratio = .70 Actual Demand ratio = .55 Time Change factor = ((.55 - .70) x10)= -1.5 Time Change increment = 3 Minutes Current ON Time = 40 Minutes ((.55 - .70) x 10)) = -1.5 x 3 minutes = -4.5 min 40 Min – 4.5 Min = New Cycle time (Lower)= 35.5 Minutes

Factory Settings Each control comes from the factory set up to attach and run. Advanced programming is available for those who wish to use it. No computer knowledge is needed to install the control. January 13, 2019

All Variables are changeable Ideal ratio .5-.8 Incremental change values: (1-5 Min) Analysis Period times: 5-120 min Absolute High and Low limits for alarms and reset: 5, 10, 20min – , 30, 60, 90 Min Initial start up Time set: <30-90> min Break times: 5-60 Minutes or Proportional

January 13, 2019

Minute to Minute Comfort Between analysis within the hour, the thermostat can increase the % call for heat/cool, by running more or less than the Ideal Demand ratio of 60% If warmer the thermostat can run up to 100%. If chillier the thermostat runs less than 70%. The thermostat always responds to the call. We only use TT information for analysis. January 13, 2019

Multi Zone Satisfaction Most cases are satisfied by attaching analysis zone to average zone in system. The rest of the zones will float with variable circulation for the hour. January 13, 2019

What has been done We have changed the philosophy of HVAC control. The new goal is to give enough to satisfy a fixed Ideal Thermostat Demand ratio. We adjust the output to meet that Ideal demand at the thermostat. We provide a more comfortable and more efficient method of cooling interior space. January 13, 2019

Shut Down In the event of a control shut down: Power failure Computer switches “disconnect control relay” off and returns HVAC to in series factory low voltage controls.

Alarms Normally open or closed alarm relay is activated upon shut down, or safety settings. Trigger local alarm, communicator, or security system. Alarm central or direct dialer to owner and/or contractor. Additional flood, heat, smoke detection.

Day after day. Year after year. It more than pays for itself. Cash Flow + Day after day. Year after year. It more than pays for itself.
