1 Triangle Tube Boiler Fuel Cost Savings Worksheet Fuel Cost Evaluation Prepared for: Fuel Heat Content Ratio: Fuel Cost Ratio: = New Fuel Cost Customer Name: Street: City, State, Zip: Day Phone: Evening Phone: Cell Phone: email: Example: New Fuel = Natural Gas = $1.45 / therm : Old Fuel = Oil = $2.95 / gallon: Example: Fuel Cost Ratio = $1.45 / $2.95 = 0.49 / Fuel Cost Ratio = Cost per unit of New Fuel / Cost per unit of Old Fuel. Old Fuel CostFuel Cost Ratio (for next page) Measures the relative heat content of a unit of fuel. Measures the relative cost of a unit of fuel. www.triangletube.com Heat lost in Flue gas = 5% Heat extracted without condensing = 85 % Heat gained by condensing = 10% Total Efficiency = 95% Natural Gas Old Fuel Therms CCF Oil (gallons)1.391.35 Natural Gas11 Propane (gallons)0.920.90 Electric (kWh)0.0340.033 Please skip to the other side if your new boiler will use the same fuel as the existing boiler. To measure the impact of changing to a new Natural Gas boiler from another fuel in the old boiler. Triangle Tube’s boilers gain efficiency over older boilers by: Modulating = running longer at lower temperatures Condensing = gaining heat from flue gas vapors Outdoor air = Old boilers send indoor air through the boiler and up the chimney, wasting heat and creating drafts. Triangle Tube boilers use outside air for combustion, eliminating this waste. Outdoor Reset = Adjusts the temperature of the system based on the outside temperature. As the outdoor temperature increases, the boiler system temperature decreases, improving efficiency. Example: Old Fuel is Oil and New Fuel is Natural Gas measured in Therms. The Fuel Heat Content Ratio is 1.39

2 Boiler Efficiency Evaluation Boiler Output: Total Fuel Cost Savings Annual fuel cost with old boiler. EFF Old = ([ Cost Savings = Actual efficiency for older, Non-Modulating Boilers is approximately 5% less than the rated Output / Input Ratio. This reduction is due to standby losses, chimney drafting losses, standing pilot losses, use of indoor combustion air, lack of outdoor reset, and other factors. Triangle Tube boilers virtually eliminate all of these losses. Example: Boiler Efficiency Ratio Information from Existing (Old) Boiler Rating Plate Fuel Heat Content Ratio Boiler Input:BTU/Hour Approx. efficiency of the existing boiler = EFF Old = ([Boiler Output/Boiler Input]-0.05) X 100 /] – 0.05) X 100 =% Boiler Plate Data: Output = 105,000 BTU/Hr, Input = 130,000 BTU/Hr. Existing Boiler Efficiency Calculation www.triangletube.com Triangle Tube EFF New = 95% 95% * To achieve the highest efficiency, outdoor reset must be used. * The numbers shown here are a basic comparison based on history. Actual fuel costs will vary depending on actual fuel prices, weather, degree days, thermostat settings, and overall weatherproofing of the building. (Skip if not changing fuels.)
