Presentation transcript:

Tuesday 9/12/17 Notebook Entry: What is one thing you did this summer that you think could be described as science?

What things do you see the scientists doing? How Science Works What things do you see the scientists doing?

What’s the Big Question? How do scientists work together to solve problems?

Science Practices: The Work of Science Ask Questions & Define Problems Develop & Use Models Plan & Carrying Out Investigations Use Mathematical Thinking

Science Practices: The Work of Science Construct Explanations and Design Solutions Engage in Argument from Evidence Obtain, Evaluate, and Communicate Information

Build a Better Boat Challenge leTS GET STARTED!!!!

The Problem: Review of the Story Friends are locked inside a historic fort only accessed by a drawbridge which has been raised. You will build a boat to float a key to the drawbridge. 6 keys are needed to unlock it from the inside. You are limited in your supplies How will you build the boat?

Exit Ticket Put your name and period # on the notecard. How do you think the skills that scientists use could be useful in everyday life? When might you use these skills? Describe a situation when you could use one or more of them.
