Introduction The Iroquois people grew the three sisters. The three sisters were corn, beans, and squash. The Iroquois people grew lots of plants. The Iroquois people lived in longhouses.

My Story My story is “Rabbit and Fox.” It’s an Iroquois oral tradition.

Problem Fox is trying to find Rabbit for dinner. Rabbit tries to run away from Fox because rabbit doesn’t want to be eaten.

In the Beginning In the beginning of the story Rabbit turns into an old woman and pretends to be nice to Fox. Then when the owner of the house comes back, Rabbit takes a pan and hits Fox in the head. When fox wakes up he knew he was fooled by Rabbit .

Middle In the middle of the story Rabbit turns into a medicine man. When Rabbit turns into a medicine man, he pretends to make the bump on Fox’s head heal. Again Fox is tricked and Rabbit hits Fox in the head with the pan that he used before.

End In the end of the story, Rabbit turns into a tree and fox hits rabbit on the nose. Fox follows the blood from Rabbit and gets to a tree. Fox thinks Rabbit is still a tree. Fox eats the tree and Rabbit isn’t eaten after all.

The Values The value that this story teaches are don’t trick people. I say, don’t trick people because Rabbit tricked Fox when he was pretending to be an old woman and a medicine man. Don’t trick people because Rabbit tricks Fox and gets hit on the nose. Fox gets tricked a lot and he doesn’t even feel that he was fooled a lot of times.
