The Church The People of God 1 Peter 2:9-10 #1

Every Person Belongs To God Made in His image (Gen 1:26-28). We have dominion over His works (cf. Psa 8). To us, Jesus Christ revealed God (Matt 11:27; John 1:18; 14:9; Col 1:15; Heb 1:1-3). To us, the Holy Spirit revealed God’s will (John 14:25-26; 15:26-27; 16:13; 1 Cor 2:10-13).

What is God’s purpose for us? Not to fulfill His need (Acts 17:24-25). Seek Him (Acts 17:26-27; Heb 11:6; Ro 10:17). Glorify & thank Him (Rom 1:21-22). Return His love (1 John 4:7-10; Mt 22:36-40). Keep His commandments (1 John 2:3-5).

Our nature serves God’s purpose God created man to be a self-conscious, self-controlling being (Gen 1:26). God’s sovereignty will be vindicated on the Judgment Day (2 Cor 5:10).

Our nature serves God’s purpose How do we know that man has the power to choose his destiny? God has the power of choice (Exo 32:7-14) & we’re made in His image. God shows no partiality (Deut 10:17; Ezek 18:19- 24; Acts 10:34-35; Rom 2:11; Eph 6:9).

Our nature serves God’s purpose What does God want us to do with our free-will? “…do all to the glory of God” “…in the name (authority) of Christ” (1 Cor 10:31; cf. Col 3:17). “…deny self, take up cross & follow” (Matt 16:24). Devote your free-will to His service & purpose.
