2. God’s peace in promise
Isaiah held out light to Israel in dark times (Isa 9:2; Matt 4:12-17).
Prince of Peace brought that light (Isa 9:2, 6).
His light is for all (Eph 5:8; Col 1:13; 1 Pet 2:9).
Israel was given the promise of peace, but had little peace (Lev 26:6; Psa 29:11; Isa 9:6).

3. Man’s peace has come
The announcement entrusted to the lowly & despised shepherds (Luke 2:13-14).
The gospel entrusted to the lowly & despised (1 Cor 1:26-31; John 15:18-19; 1 John 3:13-14).
God exalts His humble saints (1 Pet 5:5).

4. Man’s peace has come Hostility followed Jesus’ birth (Matt 2:18).
Jesus’ peace is not like world peace (John 14:27).
Peace that passes understanding (Phil 4:7).

5. Prince’s peace revealed
Peace with God (Rom 5:1-2).
Set free from sin (Rom 6:3-4, 17-18).
Sin disturbs peace with God (Isa 59:1-2).
Sin prevents peace in man (Isa 48:22; 57:21).
Jesus, Prince of Peace, restores peace in His one body, the church (Eph 2:13-16).

6. Prince’s peace revealed
Peace of God (Phil 4:6-7).
Born of faith & trust in God.
Derived by meditating on godly things (Phil 4:8-9).
Jesus & Paul achieved this peace despite being severely abused by others.

7. peace from the prince
John 14:27 – Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.
Isa 26:3 – You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
