ABOUT UNIVERSITY The Tamilnadu Teachers Education University Established by the Govt. of Tamilnadu is an exclusive university for teachers education to promote excellence in teacher education. This is the only state university established for Teachers education program in India. The University has established six department of studies and research. The university offers B.Ed and M.Ed Program through its affiliated colleges. The university department offers M.Phil and Ph.D Programes.97 Ph.D and 10 M.Phil Scholars are doing their research program. Tamilnadu is the seat of Higher Education in India ,which offers a number of general as well as professional courses. 02-01-2019

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES IDENTIFIED BY THE NCTE The NCTE has identified and recommended the following 10 major skills/competencies in which teachers have to develop and practice. Contextual Competencies: It provides a wider view of the development of education in society and teachers role in it. Conceptual Competencies: It includes the concepts of education and learning psychological, sociological and neuro physiological aspects of education, etc. 02-01-2019

Competencies Related to Teaching-Learning Material: It provides classical teaching - learning material, new educational technology, local resource, etc. and also preparation, selection, use. Curricular and Context Competencies: It helps to have knowledge on curriculum of specific stage such as primary, upper primary or secondary Transactional Competencies: It helps to transact curriculum subject wise, stage wise Competencies in other Educational Activities: It is planning and organizing morning assembly, etc. 02-01-2019
