European Union

The European Union (EU) is an economic and political union of 28 member states that are located primarily in Europe.

The members of EU

Eighteen countries of the Union have put into circulation their single currency, the euro, having created eurozone.

Institutions of the EU include the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, the European Council, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Central Bank, the Court of Auditors, and the European Parliament. The European Parliament is elected every five years by EU citizens.

Union, when viewed as a single economy, made in 2009 their product 14,79 trillion dollars, which is more than 21% of world output. This puts the economy of the Union in the first place in the world by nominal GDP.

In addition, the Union is the largest exporter of goods and services, as well as the most important trading partner of several developed countries, such as China and India.
