Pathways to Knowledge™

The Pathways to Knowledge Model is... a nonlinear, holistic information process model which provides a framework for Information Literacy skills. District interest in this model developed out of a study group of media specialists looking at the national information literacy standards during the 1998-99 school year. This group presented the concept to Carol Webb and Kathy Learn for consideration and a committee was formed to pursue implementation of the model In February of this year, teacher, TAG, and media specialist teams from the elementary schools Participated in a full-day workshop with Dr. Marjorie Pappas and Anne Teppe -- co-authors of the model. © 2000 Follett Software Company

Vision Provide a common language and method of research that will encompass all grade levels K-12. As students become more adept with the research strategies, they will move from a position of " learning to do research" to one of "doing research to learn." Provide teachers with a working model to use in their own research and the research they require of their students. Facilitate collaboration among colleagues as we strive to meet the standards and benchmarks for which we are accountable. The vision of this committee was that the model would...

Content Standards Framework for Learning document Excel Standards and Benchmarks document The seven district essential learning standards and the district content standards are at the center of our Framework for Learning. This document was distributed to all district administrators and certified staff in the fall of 2000.

CSIP Goals Increase student achievement in mathematics. Increase student achievement in reading Increase student achievement in science Elementary implementation Secondary awareness We are now required by the state to report on technology integration efforts and technology in support of student achievement goals. Rather than create a separate technology goal for the District CSIP, which would only reinforce the belief that technology is an end in itself, we have listed technology and information skills action items in support of the following goals. (Show bullets). Implementation and awareness of Pathways are action items in the CSIP for 2000-2001.
