Let’s Review... Who are the two main opponents battling in the Civil War? The Union Army (North) The Confederate Army (South)

Let’s Review... What were the main causes of the Civil War?

Let’s Review... Which battle occurred, in South Carolina, in 1861, that “set off” the Civil War? The Battle of Fort Sumter Let’s talk about it!

The war between the North (Union) and South (Confederate) was going on and on. It is now 1863.

The Confederate’s headquarters were in Richmond, Virginia. General Robert E. Lee was heading the Confederate Army.

We need a win in the North! If we win a battle on their territory, then they may surrender!

So the Confederate Army marched from Virginia to Pennsylvania to a town called Gettysburg.

The bloodiest battle of the Civil War took place in Gettysburg.

Almost 3,000 bodies of horses are found after the war was over. The total number of victims from both sides adds up to 51,000 troops. The Battle of Gettysburg lasts for 3 days. In the Civil War of America, battle of Gettysburg has the biggest number of fatalities. The Battle of Gettysburg was a decisive victory for the Union.

This Union victory left the South with no chance of winning the Civil War.

7 months later.... I am going to visit the battlefield where the Battle of Gettysburg took place and dedicate it as a cemetery.
