Purpose of the LEA Consolidated Plan The purpose of the LEA Consolidate Plan is to ensure that all children receive a high-quality education and to close the achievement gap between children meeting the challenging State academic standards and those who are not meeting such standards. Provide additional educational assistance to those students who are not meeting the challenging State academic standards and identify/implement instructional and other strategies intended to strengthen academic programs and improve school conditions for learning. Develop and implement a well-rounded program of instruction to meet the academic needs of students at risk for academic failure.

Summary of the LEA Consolidated Plan Huntsville City Schools will monitor student progress towards meeting the state’s challenging academic content standards by engaging in the use of various assessment measures. These assessment measures include: Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) which will gauge student progress toward literacy development; STAR Enterprise which provides screening and benchmarking in reading and math leads to an increase in academic learning; as well as SCANTRON which supports standards benchmarking in reading and math. Huntsville City Schools will ensure that programs and activities for involvement of parents will be provided for all schools with Title I Part A programs. These programs will be planned and operated with meaningful consultation with parents of participating children. Additionally, various strategies such as parent surveys will be used to support successful school and family interactions.

Summary continued Huntsville City Schools will develop and implement well-rounded programs of instruction to meet the academic needs of all students as well as identifying students at risk for academic failure. Huntsville City Schools will identify and address any disparities that results in low-income students and minority students being taught at higher rates than other students by ineffective, inexperienced, or out-of-field teachers. Huntsville City Schools will identify and implement instructional and other strategies intended to strengthen academic programs and improve school conditions for student learning.
