Rome Republic- form of government where leader is not a monarch and certain people have voting rights The Twelve Tables- Rome's first code of laws applied to only Roman citizens Law of Nations- universal law, established standards of justice that applied to ALL people Punic Wars- Rome destroys Carthage 50,000 men, women and children sold into slavery

Rome Hannibal- Carthage General, great strategist Rome feared him. Julius Caesar- first Roman dictator (absolute ruler), used his loyal army to seize power Slave revolts occur- such as the one lead by Spartacus. Christianity began as movement with Judaism
