School Bus Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) History and Mission Established in 1997 in Limestone, Maine with an executive office in Augusta, Maine MMA’s mission is to produce high Quality equipment through innovative processes that are cost effective and achieve total customer satisfaction MMA has refurbished more than 15,000 vehicles ranging from HMMWV’s to howitzers to all types of engineer equipment

Facilities - Limestone School Bus Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) Facilities - Limestone School Bus Service Life Extension Program Facilities

School Bus Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) PROBLEM: Long term federal, state and local budget constraints will result in fewer dollars for procurement of new school buses at historical replacement rates. SOLUTION: MMA developed a comprehensive program to cost-effectively extend the service life of school buses. GOAL: Off-set budget cuts by offering School Superintendents viable, economical solutions to impending school bus shortages.

School Bus Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) New Bus Costs Traditional Style (Type C): $84,000+/- Transit Style (Type D): $91,000+/- Expected Body Life 10-12 Years Expected Mechanical Life 17-20 Years

School Bus Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) Fundamental Disconnect: Body lasts half the life of the mechanical components Fundamental Correction: MMA’s SLEP designed to extend body life to match mechanical life MMA SLEP Cost $30,000

School Bus Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) Statement of Work (SOW) Overview: Complete separation of the body from the frame (Conventional style only) Pressure wash thoroughly and perform further vehicle inspections, document accordingly Repair corrosion deficiencies (steps, cross ribs, wheel wells, etc) Blast, prime & paint frame Prep, prime and paint body. SLEP services will restore the body and frame of the bus to “like new” condition. Apply anti-corrosion undercoating to the frame and undercarriage
