SEND Reform & Focus of Inspection Children and Families Act 2014 placed new legislation on local areas to implement reforms for Children and Young People with Special Education Needs and Disabilities Main changes: Transfer of all ‘Education Statements’ to ‘Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) by March 2018. What inspectors found Leaders know their strengths and areas for development – we were honest Change of pace over last 18 months but Slow start has limited progress. What inspectors found Good range of options post 16, but more to do to raise parental awareness Positive praise for some services such as Early Years, CWD team, Youth Support Service, CE Autism Team Inadequate diagnostic pathway and support for Children with Autism Significant emphasis on Parental dissatisfaction They found no Safeguarding concerns Vast majority of outcomes for Children and Young People are good and above national average (EHCPs) Cheshire East Children and Young People are the areas ‘richest asset’ OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE
