Homeless Assistance (Austin, Texas) Lifeworks Youth Shelter 3700 South 1st St. Austin, TX 78704 (mailing address) (512) 441-6914 St. Louise House Call for appointment: (512) 326-2774 Only for children under the age of 18 who are clients of Child Protective Services (CPS) Temporary shelter- can stay for 90 days but may stay longer if necessary All residents must be in school, working, or looking for a job Mail services available for residents People’s Community Clinic provides medical care for residents Long-term housing program Service for women with children Application required, GUIDELINES: single female head of household with child OR currently pregnant, prove source of income Online application available at www. stlouisehouse.org but can also make an appointment by phone Must be working or going to school by end of second month of stay Two-bedroom apartments, serves mothers with 4 children Limited medical financial assistance – determined with case manager Foundation for the Homeless (512) 453-6570 30-90 day transitional center Families with children (up to age 17) Not an emergency shelter- must call and complete a pre-screening by phone. Then you must set up an appointment to fill out an application. If you are approved to stay you will be called back. Otherwise, you may be put on a waitlist if the shelter is full Shelter does not provide financial assistance Mail service available for residents Homeless Assistance (Austin, Texas) C.D. Austin Shelter for Women and Children 4253 Tannehill Lane Austin, TX 78721 (512) 933-0600 No men Only women and children (boys up to the age of 17) Open everyday 90-day stay period (transitional) Have kitchen services, serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner Mail services available once you are a resident Case managers available to help residents ARCH (Austin Resource Center for the Homeless) 500 East 7th St. Austin, TX 78701 (512) 305-4100 Casa Marianella 821 Gunter St. Austin, TX 78702 (512) 385-5571, only office closed Wed 9AM-12PM Lottery for sleep spot at 6pm each evening for single adult men only Women may sleep during the day Community Care Clinic operates next door: Mon-Thurs 7am-3:30pm Routine medical attention begins at 6:30am. Dental and vision walk-ins should come to the clinic at 8am on Monday mornings. MAP card sign-ups: at clinic Mon/Wed/Thurs-1pm OR Mon/Wed- 8am (advised to come an hour early) No ID/name needed to use services at shelter Anyone under 18 must come with an adult Serve dinner at 6pm to at least 100 people Mail services available Can store medication Shelter mainly for immigrants, but also an emergency shelter Mostly single men and women with no children Posada Esperanza – shelter for women with children Breakfast and lunch prepared by residents, dinner provided by shelter staff Mail services available to residents Storage of medication is allowed Financial assistance available for residents. If homeless and working, no assistance will be provided for co-pay. If homeless and unemployed, a case manager might be able to help with co- pay, depending on available funds.
