4 United Way Day Of Caring Projects
Volunteers helped clean the McHenry County PADS homeless shelter Pioneer Center provides services for homeless persons including day program, transportation and transitional housing.

Volunteers painted the basement and bathrooms at Turning Point Turning Point provides domestic violence services including 24-hour crisis intervention, response, and emergency shelter, legal and non-legal advocacy, individual and group counseling and partner abuse prevention.

Volunteers collected sweaters for Head Start preschool children Head Start provides a comprehensive developmental preschool program for children ages 3-5 years that includes health, dental, nutrition, social services and parental education for low-income families.

Volunteers created greeting cards for kids served through CASA McHenry County At CASA of McHenry County, volunteers advocate for abused and neglected children to help them find safe, permanent homes where they can thrive, making a life-long difference for children.

Volunteers help senior residents with their yard work projects Senior Care Volunteer Network assists seniors in maintaining independence by providing no-cost volunteer services including transportation, friendly visits, housekeeping, yard raking, minor home maintenance, shopping, and respite care.

Volunteers who have applied to serve as Big Brothers Big Sisters Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County provides a youth companion and mentoring program that matches volunteers and at-risk youth to develop positive relationships that have a direct impact on the lives of young people.

Seniors benefit from receiving nutritious meals delivered to their home Catholic Charities provides nutritious meals and a wellness check to homebound seniors and offers group dining to encourage socialization and prevent isolation to those 60 and older.

Local children benefit from daycare programs available in our county A DCFS licensed childcare facility that provides day care in a nurturing environment that is rich in developmentally appropriate activities to children 6 weeks to 12 years.

The team from Child Advocacy serves children who are victims of abuse Child Advocacy Center advocates for children who are victims of abuse help by coordinating the activities of the agencies involved in the investigation, prosecution and treatment referral.

This team provides credit counseling services for individuals and families Consumer Credit Counseling Service promotes financial responsibility through counseling, education, and money management services including financial counseling and advice, debt reduction programs, bankruptcy education, and mortgage foreclosure prevention.

16 How Can You Help? Every Dollar Counts
United Way of McHenry County has the unique ability to transform small donations into A BIG IMPACT! If every employed individual gave $1 a week, United Way would raise nearly $8,000,000! $1/week 9 hot, nutritious meals for a homebound senior. $2/week 4 ½ hours counseling to help a family with life’s stressors. $3/week 5 days of care for the young child of a single working parent. $4/week 6 hours of assistance to help a senior remain independent in their home. $5/week 13 days of support, counseling and training to assist a person out of homelessness.
