Consultation Feedback Steve MacFeely Director of Business Statistics Central Statistics Office

Responses (18) x Institution Type

General Remarks Road freight generated the most interest Data requirements well articulated & linked to policy objectives Data required quite demanding Some complex cross-cutting issues raised But many objectives still quite compartmentalised or silo based

Data Requirements Broken down into 5 categories: - Road (with 4 sub-categories) - Sea - Air - Rail - Cross cutting

Road (Economic)

Road (Environment) * Junctions 6 & 7 on M50 of particular interest

Road (Safety)

Road (EU requirements)

Rail

Air

Sea

Cross-Cutting

Conclusions Appears to significant data gaps Some of the required data are already available More onerous demands (e.g. detailed route) cannot come from surveys Need to examine new techniques, such as GPS, cameras etc. Is there a need for a Transport Satellite Account? Resource implications!

1 – Gap analysis 2 – Prioritise action plan Next Steps
