Introduction Did you ever think you could be executed for being a witch? Well you’re going to find out in our presentation about the Salem Witch Trials. We hope you learn something about this topic.

Why it started? In 1692 a small girl fell sick. When this girl fell sick the doctors could only name one cause and they concluded that it was “witchcraft”. Later on men and women were on trial for “witchcraft”.

The people executed part 1 19 people were accused for being witches and they were hung. 1 person was sentenced to death when failed to plead guilty or not guilty. Others that were accused died in prison.

The people executed part 2 Tituba, a slave of Parris Caribbean was issued for an arrest warrant. Sarah Good, the homeless beggar and two other homeless women. Sarah Osborn, a elderly and poor woman who didn’t attend church. These were the people the girls accused of bewitching them.

How could you tell who was a witch? People believed witches didn’t go to church, so if you missed church you were considered a witch. The people of Salem also believed you were a witch if you were seen talking to yourself. They also believed you were a witch if you were able to do things that were un-human.

Are witches real? There were no actual witches in Salem, Massachusetts. No women actually signed the devil’s book and was going around hurting people. People actually do still practice witch craft but not because they are witches.

Our opinions Victoria says: I don’t think witches are real. I also don’t believe that humans have supernatural powers. Its not possible to me because of the religion that I believe in. Chidubem says: I believe that witches are not real. I also think that no one in Salem was bad or signed the devil’s book. The people of Salem were delusional.

Their religion The people of Salem were Christians. Witches were believed to be controlled by the devil. Innocent people were trialed and killed because they were believed to be in league with the devil.

Most interesting facts Some people who were considered to be witches, were burned alive in Europe. If you are or get pregnant they hold off the trials until the baby is born because they believed the baby has no sins. “Afflicted” girls lied that the people who tormented them were witches.
