Properties of Water Grades 3-5

Physical State The classification of matter as a solid, liquid, and gas

Changes in State of Matter Condensation Freezing Melting Evaporation

Constant Not changing; the same

Boiling Point The temperature at which temperature changes states from a liquid and gas (the boiling point of water is 100*C)

Melting Point The temperature at which a substance changes from a solid to a liquid

Freezing Point The temperature at which a substance changes states from a liquid to a solid (freezing point of water is 0*C)

Condensation Physical change in matter from a gas to a liquid

Evaporation Physical change in matter from a liquid to a gas

Hot Plate An instrument used to heat substances

Beaker A tool used to heat and measure substances

Thermometer A tool used to measure how hot or cold something is. A tool used to measure the melting, freezing, and boiling point of water.
