Key words: Counter-Reformation = when the Catholics started to fight back against the protestants and the changes that they had bought. Reactionary = people who respond to change. Reactionaries usually are conservative and want to prevent change or turn back the clock. Martyr = someone who sacrifices their life for their religious faith. Foxes’ book of Martyrs = published propaganda celebrating the Protestant Martyr’s under Mary’s reign. Embroiled = sucked into, dragged in, consumed by a negative situation.
