Natura 2000 – SCI Union Lists 2012 updating round Habitats Committee meeting of 4 Oct. 2012

all 9 Biogeographic Regions are concerned updated Union Lists based on SCI data submitted between October 2010 and October 2011 (or earlier if no new data submitted during that period) evaluation of changes by ETC/COM; bi-lateral contacts with Member States in spring-summer 2012 during that period, 19 Member States submitted new data: AT, BG, CY, CZ, DE, DK, EE, ES, FR, HU, IE, IT, LV, MT, NL, PL, RO, SE, SK, UK (no new data from BE, GR, FI, LT, LU, PT, SI) all 9 Biogeographic Regions are concerned

New SCI total figures 2012 total SCI area : 75 363 077 hectares (+ 3,42 %) total number of SCIs: 22 793 (+ 1,0 %) SCIs cover => 13,6 % of the EU27 land area => 179 158 km2 of marine area

Other changes to the Union Lists Geographic site coordinates ("longitude" and "latitude") now in decimal degrees with 4 digits Last minute correction: Boreal List: site SE0230150 Ostmossen : the habitat type 6210 on this site is not of the priority type (*important orchid sites)
