Presentation on theme: "State of progress with transition to new Standard Data Form"— Presentation transcript:

1 State of progress with transition to new Standard Data Form
Expert group on Reporting under the Nature Directive 22 November 2012, Brussels Natura 2000 dataflow State of progress with transition to new Standard Data Form Sabine Roscher

2 Overview transition phases I + II
Phase I: Transfer data from old to new format complete meaning: filling gaps / updating information that is readily available (e.g. SAC designation dates & legal reference, marine %) Phase II: Filling gaps / update information that is not readily available until 2015 primarily information in the “Ecological information” section this deadline allows MS to use data collected for the 2013 Art 17 and Art 6 reporting exercises for completing this missing information.

3 new SDF - overview data deliveries
Data according to the new SDF Delivered by: AT, CY, EE, ES, FI, FR, DE, GR, HU, IE, IT, LV, LU, MT, NL, PL, SE, SK, SI, RO, UK Delivered, but later than 15. November BG, LT Not delivered by: BE, CZ, DK, PT Status:

4 Date classified as SPA SPA legal date (obligatory)
% for sites for which SPA legal date is filled in per MS SPA legal reference (obligatory) % of sites for which SPA legal reference is filled in per MS

5 Date site proposed as SCI
Obligatory field filled in for all SCIs by CY, EE, ES, FI, FR, GR, IT, LU, LV, MT, NL, PL, RO, SE, SI, SK, UK missing for some sites AT (1), DE (270), FI (8), IE (6), IT (6) For Date site designated as SAC see separate presentation

6 Species codes and names
invalid species codes (e.g. transposed digits) Species names different from the names used in the code list Wrong application of rules for population size (min/max) Min: 1 Max: correct entry Min: 2 Max: correct entry Min: Max: wrong entry Min: 2 Max: wrong entry

7 Species data: Population Units
Number of valid pop.units: x “i” or x “p” Population unit missing records Wrong entries Stations (FR, 11x) Pairs -> p (UK, 1x) f (SE, 3x) C (IT, 3x) Cmal -> cmales (UK, 4x) in (ES, 3x) m (IT 4x, SE 46x) males m (ES, 1x)

8 Indication of sensitive species
Species are flagged up as sensitive by: DE 15, ES 25, FI 28, IT 2, LU 3 (UK -1 ?wrong code) Wrong or missing codes will cause issues with handling of sensitive data

9 Data on threats and pressures
No full automated transfer of data possible See also explanations in the FAQ in Reference Portal There has to be at least one entry for negative as well as for positive impact If there is not threat/pressure use code ‘X’ Follow the agreed rules no double entries for pressure inside (i) and outside (o), use both instead (b) The data entries for the highest rank are limited to a maximum of five negative and five positive impacts.

10 Management plans Entries for existence of management plan per site (SCI + SPA) The data and resulting statistic do not properly reflect reality => SDF needs to be filled in correctly and kept up to date in order to provide a sound basis for data analysis

11 Summary Follow the agreed rules
e.g. for population min/max values Ensure that coded values match the code list in the Reference Portal e.g. population units … Check consistency of data e.g. Dates in section 1 All obligatory fields have to be filled in EEA will further develop Qa/Qc reports direct qa/qc of uploaded datasets Keep in mind the importance of SDF data for the production of key products (e.g. statistics)
