ELA 8 Summer Reading Required Text No. 2 Book Trailer Directions

Assignment Details This assignment is a MAJOR GRADE This book must be on the 2nd novel that you read this summer. (You have 4 to choose from. See the summer reading flyer for more information.) This assignment is due Aug. 9 (the first Friday of school). Late assignments will result in a 30-point deduction. The highest you will be able to make is a 70. Assignments that are more than 1 week late will result in a ZERO. You will have a test on this book the first week of school as well.

Example Book Trailers See the Summer Reading Google Classroom page for more examples.

Examples Videos are courtesy of Google.

What to Include / Rubric The title of the book and the author – 1 frame (10 pts.) Setting – 1 frame with 3 sentences describing the setting (10 pts.) Characters – 1 frame each with 3 sentences describing each character (at least 3 characters) (10 pts.) The resolution – 1 frame with 3 sentences summarizing the resolution (10 pts.) Each frame must contain music and a photo/image. If it does not, you will lose 5 points per frame (2.5 for music and 2.5 for photos/images). DO NOT FORGET: Include photo credits (ex. Photos courtesy of Google Images) on a frame at the end identifying where you got your images. If you use music, it can only be a 30 second clip of a song.

How to Submit Your Trailer You will be responsible for submitting your book trailers to Google Classroom. You will submit it to the class for your class period. DO NOT submit it to the summer reading Google Classroom page. This is merely a place where you can find information about summer reading and ask me questions over the summer. You will need to upload your video to Google Classroom as a mp4 file. If it is not submitted in this format, I cannot guarantee that I will be able to open it, which will result in the assignment being late. To make your trailer, you might want to use: Windows Movie Maker, iMovie, WeVideo, or another type of software or website.
