TITLE: Awareness raising campaign

Duration: 6 months

Background and justification: We find there is acute lack of awareness amongst trade union leaders and activists to give due importance to the migrant labour issues. As migrant workers are workers trade union must have policy and activists to address the problems of migrant workers in Bangladesh and host countries. Trade union can play a vital role as trade union works with ILO, ITUC and Govt.

TARGET GROUP AND PARTIES INVOLVED Leaders and Activists of Trade Unions

OBJECTIVES To create and raise awareness of about the problems of the migrant workers to undertake appropriate action and necessary activities by trade unions to address the problems of migrant workers

ACTIVITIES TO ACHIEVE THE OBJECTIVES Collect information and documents on migrant workers Organize 10 awareness campaign programs Develop a union policy on labour migration Launching ratification campaign for ILO convention No. 97 and No. 143 and UN convention Lobby and pressurise government to enact and implement law regarding migrant workers rights
