<doc.: IEEE 802.15-doc> <month year> <doc.: IEEE 802.15-doc> March 2016 Project: IEEE P802.15 Working Group for Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) Submission Title: [ Summary of teleconferences previous to the March meeting ] Date Submitted: [ March 13th, 2016 ] Source: [ Marco Hernandez ] Company: [NICT] Address: [3-4 Hikarino-oka, Yokosuka, 239-0847, Japan] Voice:[+81 46-847-5439] Fax: [+81 46-847-5431] E-Mail:[] Re: [In response to call for technical contributions TG8] Abstract: [ ] Purpose: [Material for discussion in 802.15.8 TG] Notice: This document has been prepared to assist the IEEE P802.15. It is offered as a basis for discussion and is not binding on the contributing individual(s) or organization(s). The material in this document is subject to change in form and content after further study. The contributor(s) reserve(s) the right to add, amend or withdraw material contained herein. Release: The contributor acknowledges and accepts that this contribution becomes the property of IEEE and may be made publicly available by P802.15. Hernandez (NICT) <author>, <company>

Teleconference on February 3rd March 2016 Teleconference on February 3rd BJ presents the changes in the Draft: “P802.15.8_D0.18.0+primitives.doc” BJ presents “DIFS and EIFS” in 802.11 There was some discussion about the EIFS. BJ moves a Motion to accept the Draft v. 0.18 Marco presents in PHY related TBDs “IFS” During the discussion, some changes were suggested. However, there were some conflicts in the understanding of how IFSs are supposed to work, and if radio characteristics are implementation dependent or specified. Hernandez (NICT)

Teleconference on February 17th March 2016 Teleconference on February 17th Before, the documents for “Word usage” and IFS was circulated by email. The group agreed to add “3.2 Word usage” to the Draft. Marco presents IFS for TG8 In the previous teleconference we had conflicting viewpoints of IFSs. That is because in the Draft 0.18, we have 2 conflicting clauses for IFS: Clause 5.1.1.3 "Interframe spacing" (based on 802.15.4) Clause 5.6.1.3 "IFS for CAP" (based on 802.11) Hernandez (NICT)

Teleconference on February 17th March 2016 Teleconference on February 17th Marco proposes to merge such subclauses into only one based on description/notation of 802.11. Because the channel access in CAP (physical/virtual carrier sense) is based on 802.11, and the channel access in CFP can adapt to such definitions. However, the idea of IFSs based on 802.15.4 is not delete it. It is included in the merged clause. Motion to approve the document with the clause for IFS text is passed unanimously: DCN 16-204r0 Hernandez (NICT)

Teleconference on February 17th March 2016 Teleconference on February 17th Action implied in the motion: 1) Merge 5.1.1.3 and 5.6.1.3 into one clause under the name "IFS" with the text in DCN 16-204r0. 2) Delete 7.2. The different timings of IFS in 7.2 are described in the merged clause. Hernandez (NICT)

Teleconference on March 2nd Marco presents “PHY services” It is a follow up of the previously approved IFS for TG8. Billy is supposed to add UWB PHY characteristics. Motion to approve “PHY services” text is passed unanimously: DCN 16-205r0. Hernandez (NICT)

Teleconference on March 2nd HB Li presents “Suggested changes for clause 5.5.1 peering procedure” After discussion the document would be revised. BJ presents “IEEE 802.15.8 PAC Primitives” Motion to approve “IEEE 802.15.8 PAC Primitives” text is passed unanimously: DCN 16-169r0. Hernandez (NICT)

Teleconference on March 9th HB Li presents “Peering procedure”. Motion to approve “Peering procedure” is passed unanimously: DCN 16-184r0. HB Li presents “Channel scanning” It was decided to continue the discussion during this meeting (we already have service primitives for CCA (ED), discovery and synchronization). BJ presents “TBDs for sync” The document would be revised for approval during the meeting. Hernandez (NICT)
