Adjetivos Used to describe people, places, and things Used with estar to describe feelings or temporary physical states Used with ser to point out characteristics such as nationality, size, color, shape, personality, and appearance

Adjetivos: English vs. Spanish In English, adjectives to not change to reflect the gender (masculine and feminine) of the noun they describe. Juan is nice. Elena is nice. They are nice. In Spanish, the forms of the descriptive adjectives agree in gender and number with the nouns they describe. Juan es simpático. Elena es simpática. Ellos son simpáticos. In Spanish, the adjective goes AFTER the noun it describes. el gallo negro (the black rooster)

Adjetivos: Four Forms For most adjectives, there are four forms: -o masculine singular (alto) -a feminine singular (alta) -os masculine plural (altos) -as feminine plural (altas)

Adjectives that have the same Masculine and Feminine Forms Adjectives that end in -E or a consonant have the same form for both masculine and feminine. Singular Plural el chico inteligente los chicos inteligentes la chica inteligente las chicas inteligentes

Adjetivos Adjectives ending in -dor end in -dora in their feminine form. Hardworking: trabajador (m/s) trabajadores (m/p) trabajadora (f/s) trabajadoras (f/p) Adjectives that refer to 2 nouns of different genders take the masculine form. Manuel y Lola son altos.
