2 What’s an adjective? A word that describes a noun is an adjective. Ex:
El muchacho pelirrojo es muy guapo. La muchacha morena es una alumna muy buena. What’s an adjective?

3 In English, the adjective almost always comes before the noun.
Ex. The serious students In Spanish, the adjective usually comes after the noun. Ex. Los estudiantes serios (adjective) (noun) noun adjective

4 In Spanish, an adjective must agree with the noun it describes or modifies.
If the noun is feminine, the adjective must be in the feminine form.

5 Examples: Un muchacho gracioso. Una muchacha graciosa.
Un alumno serio. Una alumna seria. Examples:

6 Adjectives that end in –e match both genders.
Ex. El maestro inteligente. La maestra inteligente.

7 Many adjectives that end in a consonant match both genders.
Ex. El amigo joven. La amiga joven.

8 Some adjectives that end in a consonant add –a to form the feminine singular. These exceptions have to be memorized. Ex. El chico trabajador. La chica trabajadora.

9 To make an adjective plural, add –s if it ends in a vowel; add –es if it ends in a consonant.
Ex. Las chicas trabajadoras Los chicos trabajadores
